I AM THE LIGHT

  SCRIPTURE John 8:12 Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life.”

John 8:31-32 36 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

John 8:58 Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”

OBSERVATION Jesus declares Himself as I AM, ONE and the same as the I AM Who spoke to Moses in Exodus 3. I AM Who spoke light into being. I AM Whose word is Truth. I AM Who has, can, and will set people free.

APPLICATION Jesus, the Great I AM, is my Lord, my Light, my Savior, the only True God.

PRAYER Thank You, Jesus, for coming to this Earth for me. The Great I AM, my Lord, my Savior, my Light, my freedom

Trust,Obey, and Have Faith

 

Scripture  Mark 3:35- Whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.-Jesus

Mark 4:9-He who has ears to hear, let him hear!-Jesus

Mark 4:23- If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.

Mark 4:40 “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”

Observation Jesus shares over and over with the people and pretty much says, You better listen, and the evidence will be when you show by your actions that you really hear, believe, live out, have faith in what I am teaching.

Application I would put my faith/trust wholly in Jesus, in God’s Word. I would not only listen to but be a doer of God’s Word.

Prayer Dear Jesus, by the power of Your Holy Spirit, I would put my faith in and be a doer of Your Word.  I would show through my actions that I trust in, believe in You and Your Word.

Being a Doer

 

Scripture Luke 11:28 Jesus said, Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!

Observation Blessing comes not just from hearing but doing/keeping God’s Word.

Application I would be a doer and not just a hearer of God’s Word.

Prayer Father, I pray that through the power of Your Holy Spirit, living and abiding in me, that I would be a doer and not just a hearer of Your Word.

Open the Door

 Scripture Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

Observation Jesus is calling, knocking, will you hear, will you believe, will you receive?

Application  We must be more than hearers but open the door of fellowship with Jesus and be doers of  God’s Word.

Prayer Thank You, Jesus for knocking on my heart’s door, I am thankful that I opened up to You.

Eternal Word

 Scripture Isaiah 40:8 The grass withers, the flower fades but the word of our God stands forever.

Observation God’s Word is eternal.

Application I would put my faith/trust in God’s Word.

Prayer Thank You, my God and Father for Your Word. Thank You for Jesus, The Word made flesh opening the door that I might know You and receive the gift of eternal life.

Gracious Words

 

Scripture Colossians 4:6 Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

Ecclesiastes 10:15

Observation I should choose my words carefully.

Application Be careful what I say and how I say it.

Prayer Father, help me to be gracious and careful in the words I choose and the way I respond to others.

God's Word is my Pure Shield

 Scripture Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.

Observation God’s Word is pure and will shield/protect us if we trust in Him.

Application I will trust God/His Word to be my shield/protection.

Prayer Father, thank You for Your pure/holy Word, my constant protection, today and everyday my faith/trust are in You.

Apples of Gold

 Scripture Proverbs 25:11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver. Prov. 15:23; Is. 50:4 

Observation The right word at the right time is beyond value.

Application I would be more careful in choosing my words.

Prayer  Father, help me to guard my mouth that I might speak words of life.

Total Impact

 

 Scripture Proverbs 4:20-21 My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart.

Observation Pay attention, listen, look, learn, lean, live, love, treasure these words.

Application Let these words/teachings, this wisdom impact the way you live your life, the way you see this world. Be more than a listener but a doer. Let them be your deepest treasure.

Prayer Father, this day, every day, may I treasure Your Word, Your wisdom and through the power of Your Holy Spirit live and let it impact every area/part, the whole of my life.

Promise Keeper

 

Scripture Joshua 23:5-6-The Lord your God will expel them from before you and drive them out of your sight. So, you shall possess their land, as the Lord your God promised you. Therefore, be very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, lest you turn aside from it to the right hand or to the left.

Observation God is a Promise Keeper.

Application I will trust the Lord to keep His Word.

Prayer Father, I will trust You to be a promise keeper.

Trustworthy Doer

 

Scripture Joshua 22:5-Not a word failed of any good thing which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.  

Observation God is a keeper/doer of His Word.

Application I would put my faith/trust in God’s Word.

Prayer Father, today I am thankful that I can put my complete faith/trust in You and Your Word.

Faithful Follower

 

Scripture Deuteronomy 13:4- You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear Him and keep His commandments and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him.

Observation/ Application  Walk after the Lord, reverence Him, keep His Word, obey His voice, serve Him, unchangeable.

Prayer Father, I would have a tenderheartedness toward You and Your Word and follow You faithfully with my whole heart.

Look and Listen . . . Trust and Obey

 

Scripture Numbers 21:2,3-Israel made a vow and the Lord listened and answered. Numbers 22:18,20-I could not go beyond the word of the Lord my God, to do less or more . . . “If the men come to call you, rise and go with them; but only the word which I speak to you—that you shall do.” Numbers 22:31-Then the LORD opened Balaam’s eyes . . . and he bowed his head and fell flat on his face. Numbers 22:38b-The word that God puts in my mouth, that I must speak. Numbers 23:3-Whatever He, the LORD, shows me I will tell you. Numbers 23:19-God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

Observation The Lord listens and answers. The Lord spoke and Balaam did. The Lord opened Balaam’s eyes and he bowed in obedience. The Lord gave Balaam a word to speak and that he spoke. The Lord God speaks the truth and will follow through on what He has spoken.

Application When I pray, I can trust that God is listening and will respond. When the Lord speaks, I would obey. I would be obedient as God opens the eyes of my heart. I would speak the words the Lord gives me to share. I would trust in and be a doer of God’s Word. I would trust that God will keep/be true to His Word.

Prayer Father, today I am listening for/to You. Today I am looking to You. I would be a doer/sharer of Your Word. I would trust You and Your Word with all my heart.

Week Seven Status 2011

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Week Two Status 2011

If God’s Word guides your conscience, let your conscience be your guide. 1-8-11 11:13am

For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater,So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please,And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.Isaiah 55:10-11 1-10-11 10:35am

The time was just 1:11 on 1-11-11

Father, I desire, long to have a deeper, heartfelt love...an unselfish, unconditional, "all-out" love...to love you more and love more like You. "Love one another as I have loved you."-Jesus 1-12-11 7:44am

Father, help me remember that in my own strength I cannot live the life You have called me to live, but I can do all things through Christ Who gives me strength. Help me to walk in that strength today.1-13-11 10:28am


Jesus was God-driven, not need-driven. Jesus had a one-point plan: do what God says and wait on Him! I want to be more like Jesus! 1-14-11 9:55am
