Remember His Sacrifice

Scripture Luke 24:6-8 He is not here but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. And they remembered His words.

Luke 24:45-47 He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures . . . it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations.

Luke 24:53 They were continually in the temple praising and blessing God.

Observation It was necessary for Jesus to suffer and rise again.

Application Today, I remember and am thankful for Jesus’ sacrifice and that He conquered sin and death for me.

Prayer Thank You Jesus for doing what only You could do defeating sin and death for all who would believe, including me. Thank You for the gift of eternal life. May I live a life that blesses and praises You.

Jesus, my Savior

Scripture Luke 23:35b He saved others; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ, the chosen of God. 23:37b If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself.

Observation People wanted Jesus to prove He was Christ The King by saving Himself.
Application Jesus came to save us by sacrificing Himself.
Prayer Thank You Jesus, my Savior, for sacrificing Yourself to pay the penalty/price for my sin.

Forever Home

Scripture Revelation 21:4 God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.

Observation/ Application  One forever day there will be no more death, sorrow, crying or pain.

Prayer Father God thank You for a forever heavenly home free from sorrow, tears, pain where I will live forever with You. Thank You, Jesus for Your sacrifice to make this all possible.

Holy, holy, holy Lord God Almighty!

Scripture  Revelation 4:8-11  Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!”    “You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.”

Observation Our eternal God is holy, all-powerful creator, worthy of glory and honor and praise.

Application God, creator of all things, my Lord, and Savior Jesus Christ, I will praise and honor You alone for all eternity.

Prayer Thank You, Jesus, my Savior, for Your sacrifice, so that I may spend eternity worshiping and praising You . . . Holy, holy, holy Lord God Almighty!

Sacrifice for Salvation

Scripture Isaiah 52:10 The Lord has made bare His holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

Isaiah 52:14 Just as many were astonished at you, so His visage was marred more than any man, and His form more than the sons of men.

Observation Jesus spread out His arms, His body was torn, that I might receive the salvation of God.

Application May I look to and be thankful for Jesus’ sacrifice for my salvation.

Prayer Thank You, Jesus, for stretching our Your arms on the cross and sacrificing Your body so that I might receive the gift of eternal life.

Sacrificial Love

Scripture Walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. Ephesians 5:2

Observation Christ’s love is sacrificial.

Application I would follow Jesus’ example of sacrificial love.

Prayer Father, today, and every day I would follow Jesus’ example of sacrificial love.

MEMORIAL DAY

His name was George Madison Waggoner, born in Dover, TN, 1836-1862 to 1864 listed as a casualty of The Civil War , he left behind a young wife named Mary, and two baby/toddler sons named Isaac George and Wiley Benjamin, that's all the info I have on MY 3RD GREAT-GRANDFATHER on my Mom's maternal side. Somewhere out there, one of these graves marked UNKNOWN SOLDIER could be him. The following I wrote about 15 years ago . . .

Remember … and give thanks!
Today I awoke long before dawn, still, comfortable, peaceful, thankful, blessed, free, and I reflect. I am able to enjoy such a moment because a high price was paid because a sacrifice was made. A sacrifice by many who’s name I'll never know, who’s faces, I've never seen, with lives given up never to be known. Today I remember although I cannot comprehend. They drank from a cup I'll never have to drink. They drank their final cup not knowing it was so, not mindful of the cost, with unquenchable courage . . . courage I'll never know. The value of freedom-can it ever be measured? The cost of freedom-can it ever be counted? Can it ever be paid in full? Priceless, costly, invaluable, immeasurable, and beyond comprehension! Today I remember those who have gone before and those who go forward now. Today I remember those who fought before and those who fight now. Today I remember those who paid the price and those who continue to pay the price so that we can continue to enjoy and others can begin to enjoy and share in this priceless gift of freedom. Today I remember and say “Thank You!” to those who have and still continue to sacrifice for freedom. Today I remember and say a prayer. Today I remember and offer thanks to God, the true Giver of freedom, for this country and this gift!

Immeasurable Price

Scripture I Corinthians 7:23 You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men.-

1 Corinthians 6:19-20, 1 Peter 1:18-19, Revelation 5:9

Observation Jesus paid a high price for us, for our souls.

Application Remembering the high price Jesus paid for our souls should focus our true allegiance on Him.

Prayer Thank You, Jesus, for the high, immeasurable price You paid to save my soul, each day I would remember and seek to honor Your sacrifice.

ALL FOR JESUS

Scripture Then Paul answered, “What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the Name of the Lord Jesus.”- Acts 21:13

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. Acts 20:24

Observation Paul was ready, prepared, willing to lay it ALL, even his very life, on the line to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Application I need to be more aware of and prayerful for many out there today who are literally laying their lives on the line to share Jesus.

Prayer Father, thank You for reminding me today of the sacrifice of many over the years to spread the gospel and for those out there at this very moment putting their lives on the line in/for the Name of Jesus. Open my eyes to my part/role in advancing The Gospel Message.

ONLY JESUS

SCRIPTURE-Leviticus 22:21 And whoever offers a sacrifice of a peace offering to the Lord, to fulfill his vow, or a freewill offering from the cattle or the sheep, it must be perfect to be accepted; there shall be no defect in it.

II Corinthians 5:21 God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

OBERVATION-only the sinless Son of God, Jesus, can pay the price, make atonement for our sin.

APPLICATION-my faith and trust is in Christ alone for the forgiveness of my sin.

PRAYER-Thank You Father for giving/sending Your one and only Son, Jesus, to pay the price, to make atonement, for my sin. Thank You, Jesus, for being obedient to Your Father. Thank You both for loving me so.

Jesus, My Great High Priest

Scripture So the priest shall make atonement for them/him, and it shall be forgiven them/him.- Leviticus 4:20b,31b, 35b; So the priest shall make atonement on his behalf for his sin which he has committed, and it shall be forgiven him.- Leviticus 5:10b, 13a, 18b, 6:7

Observation Repeatedly, 7 times, in these 3 chapters in Leviticus, the phrase about the priest making atonement for forgiveness of sin is used.

Application We, now, have a Great High Priest, Jesus, Who has graciously, once and for always paid the price, made atonement for our sin.- Hebrews 4:14-16

Prayer Thank You, Jesus, for paying the price, being the sacrifice for my sin, once and for always.

Week Sixteen Status 2011

Susie is here and I'm GLAD!!

Great day! Mall, meal, movie! Best part was that I shared it all with Susie!

At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the Light and the burden of my heart rolled away, it was there by faith I received my sight and now I am happy all the day.

Walk-in communion at church. Remembering the sacrifice of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank You!!! Thankful to share this time with my dear friend Susie!

Status Week Nineteen 2010

Being religious is not the same as having a relationship with the living Christ.

So thankful HE knows my name.

Jesus paid the ultimate price, and it is because of His sacrifice and His sacrifice alone that we can have eternal life when we put our trust in Him.

Jesus died for the sins of the world, but He also died for our sins individually. It was our sin that put Him on the cross.. He has won the victory, and we have the chance to share in that victory as we put our trust in Him.

By His grace God continues to use life’s twists and turns to reshape us into more Christlike persons, “conformed to the image of His Son” (Rom. 8:29).

Your name, O LORD, endures forever, Your fame, O LORD, throughout all generations. ~Psalm 135:13

“Do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.”

Remember and Give Thanks

This last Monday in May we observe Memorial Day, although the actual, original date,was/is the 30th. Somewhere along the way the change was made to the last Monday in May in order to set up a three day holiday weekend. This day set aside especially to memorialize those who gave their lives in the service of our country in defending and advancing freedom. Such a high price…so many, so much sacrifice…may we never forget or take the freedoms we enjoy for granted or to lightly pass by a day like this without remembering and giving thanks for those who gave their all and those who continue to do so at this very moment. If you know or see someone currently serving or that is a veteran or their family or someone who lost a friend or loved one in military duty take time, anytime, not just on special days like this to reach out and say thank you, it’s the least we can do to express our gratitude. Below is something I wrote a few years ago.

Remember … and give thanks!

Remember Their Sacrifice!

May 30 was the original date for Memorial Day until the change to the last Monday in May to create a three day holiday weekend. However, every day we should be thankful for and remember the sacrifice!

What if I gave ALL?

What if I gave ALL?

What if I followed Your example, Jesus?

You have S.H.O.D.E.* me the Way

No greater example of serving

No greater example of sacrifice

No greater example of humility

No greater example of obedience

No greater example of (self) denial

No greater example of love (displayed)

No greater example of giving ALL!

What if I gave ALL like You?

What if I gave ALL to You?

What if I gave ALL for You?

What if I gave (surrendered) ALL?

What if I truly followed You?

What if I truly sought You with ALL my heart?

What if I truly loved You with ALL my heart?

What if I truly trusted You with ALL my heart?

ALL from You, ALL to You, ALL for You, ALL like You

Then would I experience true richness

Then would I experience true power

Then would I experience truly abundant Life

Today I would give ALL

Today I would be a living sacrifice (holy, wholly, sanctified)

Today I would have the mind and attitude of Christ

Today I would deny self, take up my cross, and follow You

Today ALL like You, Jesus, ALL like You let me be, I humbly pray, Amen.
